About newfoundlandbeer.org

newfoundlandbeer.org is a continuation of the Newfoundland Beer History Project. While we still focus on beer history in Newfoundland, we have expanded our scope to act as an aggregate of news and information about the developing Newfoundland craft beer scene. We aim to be neutral and support the growth of beer knowledge and independent breweries in Newfoundland.

Chris Conway, Appearance on CBC Morning

Chris Conway founded Newfoundland Beer History in 2012. Chris has an undergraduate degree in engineering from Memorial University and has spent the last three years developing (as founding brewer and co-head brewer) Folly Brewpub from a small gastropub into a fully functioning brewery with Christina Coady. Folly Brewpub has been named in the top ten breweries in Ontario for the past two years by The Ontario Craft Beer Guide. Chris has also been involved with writing about beer for Taps Magazine (the homebrew recipe design section) and The Overcast (the monthly “Pondered Pint” column). He has appeared in The Atlantic Canadian Beer Blog, The Telegram, the CBC’s St. John’s Morning, and the East Coast Crafted as an expert on beer and the Newfoundland beer scene. Much of the original research on this page and photos of vintage Newfoundland beer bottles are featured in The Overcast’s Guide to Newfoundland Beer.

Chris has recently moved back to his home province of Newfoundland to work on opening Landwash Brewery in Mount Pearl and to help brew at Quidi Vidi Brewing during the interim.

This page remains a neutral advocacy page for all Newfoundland-based, independent breweries.
